Peaceful Protest
Friday, January 27, 2007

410 Hespeler Rd., Cambridge
We will begin at Gerry Martiniuk MPP’s office and later go to Gary Goodyear M.P.’s office, corner of Bishop St. and Collier McMillan Dr.

From the President’s Desk
Dear Members,
As the new year begins, we may find ourselves taking stock of where we’re at in life. Perhaps we are making resolutions, ranging from how to better manage our budget to managing our weight. Perhaps things of the spiritual order are taking on an imperative, such as ‘ How much do I really care about others?’ I humbly ask you to pray about resolving to do something more about the most fundamental issue of the right to life and its attendant effects. Perhaps if more of us take it upon ourselves to provide information to friends and family members, fewer women and children will be victimized from use of ‘the pill’ or in-vitro fertilization procedures. There are healthy alternatives to the above, and literature is available at our office. Let’s be informed and courageous in telling others. Lives are depending on it.

Annual General Meeting Report
Attending the Annual General Meeting held on November 23 was a real pleasure. After the committee reports were presented, members and guests were edified by a most informative and poignant presentation made by three pro-life students from McMaster University. They made the pronouncement that the right to life issue is ‘the human rights issue of the 21st century’. We have invited these energetic pro-lifers for a return engagement at our Dessert and Coffee event in May. Their terrific website is www.mcmasterlifeline.com
A warm welcome to Dorothy de Sousa who rounds out our Board of Directors for 2006/07.
The draw for the Walk For Life prizes was presided over by Norb Oberle. This year the lucky winner of the 10 speed bicycle was Teresa Donnait. Thanks to all who made this evening so enjoyable.

REACHING MINDS THROUGH MEDIA T.V. CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Alliance For Life Ontario is continuing with its effort to place life-saving commercials on T.V. in Ontario. To this end they are asking for our help in making this year’s campaign a success.
If you have not yet responded to this appeal through your Church bulletin insert, please consider making a special donation in the envelope provided. You may make the cheque out to Cambridge Right to Life in order to receive a tax receipt since Alliance For Life Ontario does not have charity status. We will forward your donation to Alliance. In all the pre-post media viewership polling done by the Vitae Caring Foundation in the U.S., women showed a clearly definable change of attitude from pro-abortion to pro-life. A similar poll is in the works for Ontario and we will keep you posted. We must realize that all of these pro-life efforts go on year after year without any government funding. All of us need to pitch in to defend life. Thanks for your ongoing support!

POLL SHOWS PRO-LIFE SUPPORT IN CANADA
An Environics poll commissioned this year by LifeCanada (the national pro-life organization) found that 64 percent of Canadians support protecting unborn life at some point before birth, up from 56 percent in 2002. The poll also found support for inform consent (71 percent), parental consent (55 percent) and defunding of abortion (48 percent). Joanne Byfield president, said: “Canadian politicians… avoid dealing with this issue. We urge them to read these results, listen to Canadians and craft laws and policies that reflect the wishes of the people.” The pro-life position is the only one that makes sense. Hopefully, in time and with prayer they will understand this too.
